WE ARE A CERTIFIED SC GROWN FARM!

Key Farms started with just a couple of farmers.  Great Grandfathers, grandfathers, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters.  At least five generations of Keys have farmed in one capacity or another.  From row cropping to livestock, the Keys have it in their blood.  When I was just a young girl, my daddy used to take me to my great grandmother's house.  We called her Mama Key.  In my eyes, her house was heaven on earth.  Tucked away on a little bitty lot, she housed everything from chickens to horses, and when we came over, she'd let us pet everything, collect eggs and help her feed.  I loved it, and I love it still.

Then you have my Grandaddy Wade, one of the most honorable, most exceptional men to ever walk this earth.  Grandaddy was a row cropper through and through.  He worked a regular 9-5, but farming was where his heart was.  He plowed those fields and brought those crops in until he couldn't do it any longer.  When he died in December of 2006, my daddy, Josh, took over his legacy.  Already running a very profitable, long-time, well established logging company that he started after graduating from high school, he added one more thing to his increasingly overflowing schedule.  But, it was a love for the land and a love for his daddy that drove him.  Now he does it too.  He plows the land and brings those crops in.  Season after season, year after year.

And then there's me, Alison.  I have a love for animals just like my Mama Key did.  I have had pigs and chickens and goats and dogs on a small scale for over a decade.  We've put quite a bit of meat on the table from growing our own.  After much talking and deliberation and research, my daddy, my husband and myself decided to get some goats.  And that's where we are now.  Growing our herd and making it the BEST.  We believe it will take us a couple of years to get where we want to be, but until then, we're watching it grow and making the most out of it.  We're raising our children with the same love of the land and the same love of God and nature that will help them in this life.

Although Josh (Daddy) is the main laborer on the farm these days (he plants, plows, sows, reaps, etc.) and I (Alison) am in charge of the animal welfare, it would be impossible during some points without many people that we call friends and family.  Their pictures are above.
